l The youngest adult generation (Survivors), by nearly a 3 to 1 margin over Builders, express a preference for worship which is Contemporary and Informal. This preference is shared by Boomers to a lesser degree. The data clearly indicates a strong relationship between youth and preference for Contemporary/Informal worship. Among those respondents who express a preference there is greatest agreement across generations for a combination of both traditional and contemporary worship. Curiously, when asked whether they prefer Traditional/Formal or Contemporary/Informal worship style, over 48% of Builders indicate No Preference/Not Interested, nearly a 3 to 1 margin compared to Survivors. l
  SURVIVORS (born 1961-1981) | BOOMERS (born 1943-1960)
SILENTS (born 1925-1942) | BUILDERS (born 1900-1924)

l

l What is the generational profile of your community?
l What is the generational profile of your congregation?

Consider the impact of this finding on your church's worship.

l On a continuum between Traditional and Contemporary, how would you describe your current worship? Does it emphasize one over the other?
l What does the congregation prefer? Does the congregation differ from the generational make-up of your community?
l Would your worship style make it easy or difficult for a generational group in your community to worship with you? If so, what could you do to change that?
